Manal Darwish Al-Ansari is a senior pharmacist and pharmacologist with over 25 years of experience in Oman’s healthcare sector. Her professional career spans clinical pharmacy, rational use of medicines, pharmaceutical policy, public and professional education, research, health technology assessment (HTA), and pharmaceutical supply and inventory management.

She previously served as Director at the Directorate of Rational Use of Medicines (DRUM), Ministry of Health, where she led and contributed to national initiatives related to rational prescribing and medicine use, clinical audits, professional training, public awareness, pharmaceutical research, and the development of treatment guidance and medicine-use policies. Earlier in her career, she worked in hospital pharmacy at the Royal
Hospital and subsequently in training and public education, giving her extensive experience across both clinical practice and national pharmaceutical programmes.

She currently works at the Directorate General of Medical Supplies (DGMS), Ministry of Health, where her work focuses on inventory and reserve stock management, pharmaceutical procurement, supply-chain analysis, strategic planning, and evidence-based decision-making. She is also a member of the National Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Committee and has contributed to the development of national HTA methodologies and tools supporting pharmaceutical procurement and resource-allocation decisions.

She holds an MSc in Pharmacology from Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, and a BSc in Pharmacy from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Her professional interests include health economics, HTA, pharmaceutical policy, rational use of medicines, procurement and supply security, and translating research and data into practical healthcare policy and decision-making
